Easton Walled Gardens nestle in a beautiful, rolling valley in South West Lincolnshire. They have been owned by the Cholmeley family for over 400 years. President Franklin D Roosevelt considered them one of the best gardens in the UK, writing home to his mother that the gardens were “A dream of Nirvana...almost too good to be true.”. The original gardens contained several walled enclosures around a mediaeval manor house. Over the centuries the design of the gardens changed and by the Victorian era the gardens were filled with bedding and borders, ornamental stonework, glasshouses, fine trees and even melon pits.

Belton House (NT) is a Grade I listed country house built between 1685 and 1688 by Sir John Brownlow, 3rd Baronet. It is surrounded by formal gardens and a series of avenues leading to follies within a larger wooded park. Belton has been described as a compilation of all that is finest of Carolean architecture, the only truly vernacular style of architecture that England had produced since the Tudor period. It is considered to be a complete example of a typical English country house.
