An Evening at the Proms

1st April 2017

7.00pm

Salvation Army Community Church
Academy Street
Warrington
Cheshire
WA1 1BQ

The Weaver Valley WI Choir and Mission Brass Salvation Army Band join forces to present a lively evening of musical entertainment. The Weaver Valley WI Choir, based at Crowton near Northwich, have planned a programme of songs ranging, in the first half, from You Raise Me Up, made popular by Westlife, to Jerusalem, and from Hernando's Hideaway to Regards to Broadway. Rousing proms-style songs such as Pack Up Your Troubles, The Dambusters and There'll Always Be An England, are the order of the day in the second half. Monologues also feature in the programme.

Mission Brass Salvation Army Band rehearse in Sale. Their members, who are aged between 12 and 30 and come from all over North-West England and North Wales, are preparing a varied programme including John Sharman's They Will Come from the East and Lavenham (Harold Nobes). Choir and band will join forces for Jerusalem, the Welsh National Anthem and God Save the Queen and the evening will conclude with a sing-along - should be a lot of fun!

Red, white and blue outfits and flag waving are most welcome! Themed refreshments will be served in the interval.

Proceeds from the evening will be donated to Music and Memory - a Voice for Dementia in Warrington. Music and Memory meet twice a month at the Salvation Army Community Church in Warrington for an afternoon of singing, with occasional special events and trips out. Please see their facebook page.
